"Twenty-five people have contracted dengue fever in the last two weeks in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, the city's vice mayor Deng Qunfang said yesterday.
The dengue outbreak was found in three areas of the city. Health authorities have also detected 16 other suspected cases since August 22.
Deng attributed the outbreak to rainy weather but said the outbreak had been brought under control.
Zhuhai set up an emergency headquarters to fight the disease on Wednesday and has launched a mass campaign to clean up the city and kill mosquitoes."
